Kompas – The lively creations of Indonesian crafts were seen at an important event, the Adiwastra Nusantara 2018 exhibition which took place on April 11-15 at the Jakarta Convention Center. This event can be called a barometer of the development of textile crafts and handicrafts in Indonesia which is able to show the latest dynamics of the Indonesian craft industry.
Themed “Contemporary Nuances in the Indigenous Culture of the Archipelago”, this exhibition presents a new face of Nusantara cloth to the Millennial generation. The Creative Economy Agency (Bekraf) makes good use of this event to present 34 curated creative industry players in the umbrella of Identities.
Cindy Wowor with the brand, COFO, carries the Koffo motif and woven fabric that were almost extinct from Sangihe Talaud, North Sulawesi. Weaving is made from natural fibers of Abaka banana (Musa Textilis) with kakunsi motifs, the most widely known of Koffo ornament. This business is also one way to revitalize the culture and the ability to weave Sangir Talaud residents.
