Cindy Wowor, co-founder of COFO who is also the daughter of North Sulawesi region while attending a coffo cloth seminar sangihe talaud has been extinct from researcher Steven Sumolang S.sos, Msn at Textile Museum Jakarta in 2016, inspired and called to revive the value of the nation’s cultural values, especially North Sulawesi can already be said extinct.
The extinction of Koffo Woven cloth as the result of the seminar did not dampen the spirit of Cindy Wowor and in March 2017 has conducted a deeper survey especially in Talaud to dig up information, face-to-face and discussions with village groups, whose activities are facilitated by the district government Talaud through the Department of Industry and Trade.
“Based on the results of the seminar and the field survey in the Talaud Islands district I immediately conducted an Audience with the Governor of North Sulawesi over the extinction of Koffo cloth and finally I got a green light to revitalize Koffo fabric back” said Cindy Wowor.
And finally in April 2017, I set up COFO for Koffo woven and woven cloth development as one of the cultural values of the nation from the extinct province of North Sulawesi, using cotton and other modern materials by maintaining Koffo’s original decorations and new modifications developed as it was in the past.
“In addition, COFO will also carry out weaving training to the community, which is planned in each sub-district, there are Koffo weaving groups that can support the produlitas and quality levels,” added Cindy Wowor.
