TAHUNA, MANADONEWS – After getting the green light from Governor of North Sulawesi Olly Dondokambey, SE to revitalize the koffo woven fabric from Sangihe Regency which is almost extinct, the founder of COFO Cindy Wowor SE, MM had a meeting with Sangihe Regency in Tahuna on Tuesday (21/11/2017 ) afternoon.
The arrival of Cindy was received directly by Jabes Gaghana Regent SH. At the meeting the Sangihe Regency Government expressed its full support to Cindy Wowor to revitalize the woven Koffo fabric that had gone extinct through development and preservation using other modern cotton materials by maintaining Koffo’s original decorations and new modifications developed as original in the past.
“The Government of Sangihe Regency gives full support and support to Cindy Wowor to revitalize the back of Koffo woven fabrics especially Koffo woven fabric is already one of 33 traditional fabrics that have been recognized by the Government as the Wealth Property Heritage and determination through the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture “Gaghana said.
“With regard to that, I ask the Department of Tourism, the Department of Industry and Trade and the Agriculture Service to preserve the program of 2018 in order to support the revitalization efforts again and if there could be a program to make one of the villages in Sangihe Regency as the Weaving Production Center Koffo Cloth, “he added.
Known, Koffo Woven Fabrics Production Center in Sangihe Islands District will be optimized to improve the culture of woven fabric koffo from the community and can also improve the welfare of the community in addition it will also become one of the tourist destinations in the region.
Responding to that support, Cindy Wowor appreciated it. He explained the COFO plan to establish a production center of woven fabric koffo in Sangihe.
