Chairman of TP PKK Sulut Recommend Koffo Cloth at Bogor Palace

KBRN, Bogor: Like the model, Head of North Sulawesi TP-PKK, Rita Maya Dondokambey-Tamuntuan and a number of wives of ministry officials walked on the catwalk while modeling the fabric of the cloth he wore.

Fashion show was held by First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo in the commemoration of Kartini Day at the Presidential Palace page of Bogor, Saturday (21/4/2018).

Rita’s own mother look elegant wearing kebaya fabric woven cofffo from Sangihe Talaud. He confidently came out from behind the stage set of LED screens and batik ornaments to the accompaniment of regional songs.

Although not having a background in the fashion world, in fact Mrs. Rita remain confident. It was also seen from the way he walked on the catwalk with regular steps.

Mother Rita’s action received warm welcome from Mrs. Iriana and wife of Vice President Mufidah Kalla. The audience applauded and many also noticed the details of fashion and accessories that were exhibited.

Known, from all Head of TP-PKK Province in Indonesia, only Mrs. Rita and Chairman of TP-PKK Bangka Belitung who follow the fashion show of archipelago.

Related to koffo woven fabric worn by Rita, many probably do not know that koffo woven fabric has been known and developed since year 1519. Koffo fabric fabrics made or done by son of daughter of King at Sangihe Talaud which sarangsen hence kahiwu and its raw material taken from tree fiber banana abaka or sangihe talaud people call it hote / rote and manado call banana manila or kofi sangi for minahasa.

Koffo koffo cultural richness can be seen in the National museum Jakarta, Textile museum Jakarta, Culture Museum of North Sulawesi Province even at the National Museum of Switzerland.

Decorative Weaving Koffo Sangihe Talaud is formed according to woven samples and by using natural dye weaving techniques from local villages and produce decorative motifs based on traditional shapes and symbols.
